Enrolling

About one/two months before the semester start you will receive information from the office of student affairs' enrollment team with details about how to enroll. Enrollment involves a number of steps:

  • Step 1: Set up your TU Berlin student account in tuPORT
You will receive two emails from the enrollment team explaining the necessary steps - including the initial tuPORT login data.

  • Step 2: Complete your application/registration form
In your tuPORT student account you find the app „overview of applications“. It includes a pre-saved application for your „Course of Study“ at TU Berlin. Add some data and submit it until a certain deadline. Have following documents for an upload ready (pdf files no bigger than 4 MB):
    • Copy of your passport’s personal data page (the page with your picture!)
    • Only graduate (master) master students: Declaration of Previous Periods of Study

  • Step 3: Electronic proof of German statutory health insurance or proof of exemption
This will be provided electronically directly to the University’s enrollment office by your German statutory health insurer or the statutory health insurer you applied to for exemption. For further information, see here.

  • Step 4: Transfer payment for your semester contribution (contribution to the semester ticket, the Studierendenwerk Berlin and the student body - you are exempted from paying the adminstrative fee!)
Important: the tuPORT enrollment application generates a personalized reference number which you must include when making your transfer.
Please note: The semester ticket is a reduced "Deutschlandticket". For more info read the FAQs available here

  • Step 5: Obtain your Campus Card
After completing all steps above and your enrollment has been processed you will receive information about the issuance of your campus card within two weeks! You have to upload a digital photograph to have the card printed.
The card is valid from the first until the last day of the semester.

Enrollment Certification

This is often requested by health insurers or the dorm administration office of the Studierendenwerk Berlin. You can find more information about the enrollment certification here.
