The PROMOS program awards monthly partial scholarships between €300 and €500. Funding rates are country-specific and according to the DAAD partial scholarship rates [1].

Please note that due to limited funds we are neither able to cover travel costs nor tuition fees.

Scholarships are paid for the duration of the semester abroad according to the academic calendar, or the number of months required for the completion of a thesis abroad in accordance with the time period given in the Study and Examination Regulations (information regarding ECTS). The prerequisite for payment of a monthly instalment is a minimum of 15 days of study-related stay abroad per funding month.

PROMOS scholarship recipients cannot receive any additional scholarships intended for the same funding purpose from public funds during their stay abroad. It is, however, possible to receive BAföG payments or Deutschlandstipendium payments while benefitting from a PROMOS scholarship.
A committee selects the scholarship recipients based on their submitted application. A decision can be expected six weeks after the application deadline at the latest.

PROMOS is solely a scholarship program. Study abroad places or thesis supervisors at foreign universities are not organized by the Section of Student Mobility & International Students. This means that students who apply for a PROMOS scholarship need to have organized all relevant documents on their own beforehand, e.g a thesis supervision confirmation of a professor from the host university abroad by the application deadline or proof of acceptance by the host university before departure.
